Black Rhino
Black Rhino
Woke up early and as breakfast was prepared by the lodge staff today all we had to do is serve ourselves, sit down at the rustic table and eat before loading the truck again to travel the short distance to the world-renowned Kruger National Park.

I bought a Kruger guide at the gate to keep track of the birds, animals, trees, etc. While driving we encountered quite a few animals like impala's, nyala's, hippo's, crocodiles, waterbuck, white rhino and some giraffe in the distance but as I saw so many close at the Bushveld camp I wasn't disappointed. Of the "Big 5" we only saw three: the seldom seen black rhino, elephants and buffaloes. The term "Big 5" originated in the days when Africa's big game was hunted by gun rather than camera, and referred to the five animals that were most dangerous when wounded: lions, leopards, elephants, black rhinos and buffaloes.
Dinner at Pretoriuskop camp
Dinner at Pretoriuskop camp
We stayed in round huts at Kruger's oldest camp, Pretoriuskop. We spent the rest of the afternoon in the natural rock swimming pool with a bottle of Amarula for me and lots of beer for the others. The green machine was parked near our huts and Jonathan pulled a huge stainless steel table and 5 chairs out of the truck’s underbelly. That vehicle keeps amazing me. We then prepared some dinner before turning in.
