Zululand - Dolphin Coast - Drakensberg - February 4-5

After leaving the Zululand camp early this morning we visited a school where some classes have up to 110 kids. Children in their navy skirts or pants with yellow shirts and striped ties entertained us with song and dance.

Dolphin Coast

We then traveled on to one of the world's finest coastlines where the unrelenting waves of the Indian ocean continuously pound the beaches: the Dolphin Coast. Lunch at the Drifters Dolphin Coast Inn which is situated literally on the beach and which overlooks the spectacular coast line. Lots of time to relax. We spent our time soaking up the sun during a beach walk. In the evening we enjoyed a traditional fish braai.

The following morning my alarm went off again at an unholy time as I wanted to catch the sun rise. Stunning. I did go back to bed to get some more sleep afterwards. A slow start of the day.

Durban

After breakfast we soon went on to our next destination. We headed for the mountains - the Drakensberg but first had a stop in Durban where we shopped and walked part of Durban's Golden Mile, a 6 km stretch of beach.
The drive up the mountain was a steady climb with stunning views.

Drakensberg Inn

When we reached the foothills we changed vehicles for a beautiful but bumpy ride on mountain tracks up to the Drakensberg Inn where we will spend two nights in cosy log cabin's that face the magnificent green valley. I even had a fireplace in the room with logs and firestarters but it was too warm to use it.
We had a great dinner prepared by the staff and lingered a while at the bar chatting before returning to our cabins for a good night sleep.
